Comparison
A Freightos alternative where carriers bid for your shipment
Freightos shows instant prices from forwarders’ rate sheets. Ebbrate asks verified carriers to bid against each other for your shipment, and sellers pay no platform fee, so you save the fee and let competition set the price. Here is how the two compare, and when each is the better choice.
Free for sellers: no credit card, and nothing is booked until you accept a bid.
Freightos alternative: Ebbrate and Freightos compared
| Freightos | Ebbrate | |
|---|---|---|
| How you get a price | Instant quotes from the rates of 30+ vetted forwarders; custom quotes for cargo outside the instant rates. | Verified carriers bid against each other for your shipment; each new bid must beat the best one. |
| How fast | Prices on the page at once; booking “in just a few clicks”. | Bids arrive while the auction runs, a set number of business hours where the carriers are; then you choose. |
| What the shipper pays the platform | Booked shipments include a Freightos.com platform fee; credit invoices paid by card carry a 3.5% convenience fee. | Nothing. No platform fee and no booking fee for sellers. |
| What the carrier pays | Freightos “takes a small percentage from the provider”. | A published commission on the service part of the price only, never on duty, set by the carrier’s score. |
| Who you contract with | The shipper contracts directly with the forwarder it books. | The same: the contract of carriage is between you and the carrier you choose. |
| Carrier performance | Forwarders are held to its operating procedure and a seller score whose weights are not published. | A carrier score published in full — every event, every weight — shown to you on each bid with on-time record and reviews. |
| Customs and duty paid | Customs brokerage through its forwarders, with a help section on customs, bonds and the ISF. | You choose the importer of record, the broker, the bond, the ISF and whether duty is in the price; every bid prices the same answers, with duty on its own line. |
| Amazon FBA | FBA delivery is supported, with a help section on shipping to Amazon. | Only carriers approved to deliver into fulfilment centres on your lane can bid; Amazon’s shipment and reference IDs are part of the hand-over. |
| Payment and credit | Pay on the platform by card, transfer and other methods; credit for shippers in the US, Canada and the UK. | Not on the platform yet: you settle with the carrier you choose. |

How this Freightos alternative works
- Post the shipment: route, cargo, dates, services and who handles customs.
- Verified carriers on your lane bid against each other while the auction runs; each new bid must beat the best one.
- Compare bids split by leg, with duty on its own line, the carrier’s score, on-time record and reviews.
- Accept the bid you want, or none. Nothing is booked and nothing is owed until you accept.
- Hand over the contacts and documents; the carrier reports each step and you follow it on the shipment page.
Questions to ask any freight marketplace
- Who sets the price: published rate sheets, or carriers competing for your shipment?
- What does the platform charge you, and what does it charge the carrier?
- Can you see what each price is made of, with duty apart from service?
- How are carriers checked before they can quote, and how is their performance measured — and is that published?
- Who decides when something goes wrong, and how long do you have to claim?
- Can you choose who is the importer of record and whose customs broker clears the goods?
When Freightos is the better choice

When Ebbrate fits better

- You want to pay nothing to the platform as a seller.
- You ship duty paid or into Amazon and want every bid to price the same customs answers.
- You want to see exactly how a carrier’s score is made before you choose it.

Questions
Freightos alternative: common questions
Is Ebbrate a freight forwarder like the ones on Freightos?
No. Ebbrate is a marketplace: verified carriers and forwarders bid, and you contract with the one you choose. Ebbrate does not move goods itself.
Is Ebbrate cheaper than Freightos?
It depends on the lane, the cargo and the week. On Ebbrate the price is set by carriers competing for your shipment, and sellers pay no platform fee; on Freightos you see instant rates. Pricing the same shipment on both is the honest way to compare.
Can I compare freight quotes on Ebbrate?
Yes. Every bid is split by leg, with duty on its own line and anything not included stated, so you compare like with like, then sort by price, transit time or carrier score.
Is Ebbrate connected to Freightos?
No. Freightos is a trademark of its owner. Ebbrate is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to it.
